McHenry Hohnen have been growing grapes in the Margaret River wine region since the 1990s. From the start there was a commitment to best practice that nurtured the land while growing unique and regionally specific fruit with character and personality.
The McHenry Hohnen home vineyard on Rocky Road is a farm brimming with life and symbiotic relationships – the microorganisms fostered in naturally brewed tonic bring vibrancy to the soil, olives ripen in the groves, bees deliver honey while pollinating the vines, chickens feast on Spring weevils and deliver fat fresh eggs – in a natural ecosystem where people are part of that system and the harmony it creates.
Commercial success and many accolades have followed including, most recently being shortlisted in the Top 10 Best Wineries in Australia by the Halliday Wine Companion, Australia’s premier wine journal.
In 2021 the winery opened a ‘pop up’ tasting room in Witchcliffe. The historic and colourful town has always been part of the McHenry Hohnen story. Now visitors and locals alike can slow down and taste some of the wines that make this area just south of Margaret River so unique and special.
