An evening with Natalie Briney
Description
Join Voyager Estate for an evening with celebrated Margaret River artist Natalie Briney, as she unveils her new collection of painted blooms.
Launching at Voyager Estate this summer, ‘The Rose Collection’ is deeply connected to the land, capturing the diversity and beauty of the 50-plus rose varieties found in our white-walled Cape Dutch-inspired gardens. Each work tells a unique story, brought to life with the pages of old books glued to canvas, in a tactile fusion of texture and colour.
Sip and savour your way on a journey of floral discovery, with a glass of wine in hand, accompanied by delicious bites from the Voyager kitchen. You’ll have the opportunity to meet Natalie and hear about her fascinating creative process, which involves repurposing ‘found’ materials in new and mesmerising ways.
Natalie’s artwork will be on display daily in the Cellar Door from 15 December to 31 January, 10am – 5pm, Monday through Sunday.
About Natalie:
Natalie Briney is a Western Australian artist who resides and works near the Blackwood River in Margaret River. Her art inspiration is drawn from the ever-changing vista of Australian native fauna and flora. It is this connection to the colours and sounds of the traditional lands of the Wadandi and Pibelman people that she seeks to capture on canvas. To create her artwork, Natalie uses old book pages torn up and glued to canvas. She then employs moulding and crackle paste to add texture and depth. She also uses various techniques, such as stencils, stamping, pen or pencil scribbling, acrylic paint, crayon, and oil sticks, all of which contribute to the creation of a visually and tactilely engaging piece of art.
