Homegrown@HEART: Soul Band Workshop

Beyond their stage shows, Southern Soul and Songbirds of the Southwest are passionate about interacting with local communities, meeting local musicians and encouraging them to develop their musicianship and creativity.

For Homegrown@HEART, they are offering a free workshop for anyone aged 12+ in the community with a musical background. Find out what’s involved in putting a big soul band together, and playing in one. Meet vocalists, rhythm section and brass section players and find out about the role each section has in a soul band.

Intermediate to advanced level musicians are invited to bring their instruments and play along a couple of songs with the band. Everyone is invited to clap along, and sing along to the choruses of songs.
