International Lighthouse Day at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse
Description
There is no better time to visit our beautiful guardians of the coastline than on International Lighthouse Day!
Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.
This weekend offers a wonderful opportunity to visit and appreciate the critical role of lighthouses throughout history and as vital working lighthouses today. Visitors will be able to explore and enjoy the lighthouse, which recently underwent a once-in-a-lifetime refurbishment, and it’s looking as beautiful as the day it was built.
One of the event’s highlights is the radio broadcast, where stories and experiences from other lighthouses worldwide will be shared throughout the weekend. This broadcast aims to connect lighthouses globally and celebrate their significance in maritime history.
The Augusta Spinners and Weavers will be at the lighthouse Saturday and Sunday with their spinning wheels spinning, a portion of the sales of their creations will be donated to the Augusta Volunteer Marine Rescue.
The amazing crew from the Augusta Volunteer Marine Rescue will be there with their rescue boat which you can explore on Saturday from 8.45 am – around midday.
