Mr Barval Opening Night

Join us ushering in a new era for Mr Barval with our new vintage wine release and the unveiling of a unique indigenous art exhibition in the Dillybag Collective Gallery.

For our inaugural opening as the proud new owners of this special property, we have teamed up with the outstanding folk at Tiller Dining to bring you an exquisite dining experience under the stars. If you haven’t had the opportunity to sample their cult creations yet, check them out here to see what all the fuss it about. This will be finished off with delicious local artisan cheese boards.

The local legend (and one of our favourites) Dan White will be performing live, bringing his ultra-cool vibes to the night.

This years’ extra-special exhibition is set to be a colour filled one! We will see the opening of a unique display of culture with ‘ The Colour Story’ which details the story of colour told through various mediums from the indigenous women from the remote homelands of the Thamarrurr Lands (West Daly Region) NT. Dillybag Collective has been working on this project with the women to explore the use of traditional bush dye colours being applied to cotton silk and linen clothing items. This exhibition will tell the story of the collection of the bush dyes and the traditional use including dillybags and the creation of fish traps as well as contemporary use of colour and fibre art. There is also a stunning new range of canvas paintings by established and emerging artists. We are super excited to announce that 8 women will be making their way from community to join us for the opening night and will be onsite running weaving workshops over the opening weekend.

As always, this is a non-profit exhibition. The proceeds go directly to the artists and initiatives within their respective communities which support traditional and emerging artistic and creative talents at a grass-roots level, as well as health and wellness programs back in community.
