Stitched & Bound Quilt Exhibition
Description
This biennial, juried exhibition displays the innovative work of West Australian textile artists challenging the concept of the ‘quilt’ medium. 45 works have been selected for their skilful combination of traditional and unconventional quilted forms, pushing boundaries and making statements using progressive materials, ideas and techniques.
This will be the thirteenth stitched and bound exhibition, the first of which took place in 1995. For each exhibition, the works are selected by a panel of 3 independent jurors. This year, jurors Leanne Bray, Janet Holmes à Court, and Lisa Walton, selected 40 works by 38 artists.
The works combine traditional and non-traditional quilted forms using a variety of materials and techniques. They explore a diversity of themes, including the artists’ personal histories, Western Australia’s history and environment, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stitched & Bound is on display in the Foyer Gallery and runs from Monday 5 December 2022 – Friday 20 January 2023. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm (closed on public holidays).
