Traditional Weaving and Bush Dye Workshop

A truly unique experience here in Margaret River.
A two-hour Weaving and Bush Colour Dye Workshop hosted by women from remote homeland communities of the West Daly region NT, who are coming down especially for this weekend. They will be demonstrating their traditional weaving techniques and how they make bush dye to colour the materials they use.
The ladies will walk you through the different stages required to create their traditional weaving from harvesting the fibres and collection of the different botanical used to dye, to the making of the string (Fi) casting on (Big toes required) and the different stitches required.
At the completion of the demonstration the ladies will guide you through their art and stories in the Gallery. Feel free to stay for a glass of wine at Mr Barval or perhaps a cheese board.
Tea and Coffee and morning tea will be provided and sorry fella’s, this is a ladies only workshop. Please ensure you have shaved bare legs with shorts or a skirt to participate.
