St John the Evangelist Church

St Johns is mainly used for local family baptisms and wedding services. An annual Carol Service is held each year on the Friday before Christmas; this event includes a shared supper and is attended and anticipated by local people. Visitors are welcome.
Situated 5 kilometres east of the Osmington and Jindong Treeton crossroads, St John’s is a charming and rustic Group Settlement Anglican church.

A gift of £100 from Church of England associates in England in the 1920s, enabled the Group Settlers to build their place of worship. The Church was built by locals Mr H H (Charlie) Williams and his 16-year-old son Chas. The first service was held on 27th December 1933 and the church was dedicated to St John the Evangelist by Bishop Wilson on 2nd February 1934.

A memorial has been erected on the property commemorating the early settlers in the Osmington district. The church is left unlocked and is appreciated by travellers and locals. There is no power or toilets, but there is a water tank. The church is furnished with pews, an altar, and a visitor book.
