The principles & philosophy at Commonage Pottery is as universal as possible, producing objects that are real & utilitarian. The subtlety of the evolvement of the finest materials shaped with intense skill can produce basic sensitivity. In a world where skills are being ignored & shunned, they believe in them, not only in the act of producing a better product but in the sheer joy of doing and becoming.
Nestled amongst a beautiful vineyard & lovely gardens with a self-tasting cellar door, Commonage Pottery is an ideal studio to immerse oneself amongst tranquil lessons and a collector's paradise. It's a space that showcases almost all styles of pottery. From Raku Pottery to wood-fired, reduction fired copper reds to crystalline glazes- it is a gallery where pottery is still the core approach.
Echoing the ethos of production pottery, Gary Hambleton is busy producing his varied range of functional pottery & and to add experiential value to space. Japneet Keith, an Industrial designer, is successfully running classes along with supporting the production facility.
The gallery proudly represents local WA potters: Kim Potter, Gary Hambleton, Greg Crowe, Victoria Malone, Beverly Mcmohan, Sandra Vernonrose, Sue Jones, Japneet Keith, Kay Manolas, Hayley Bangham, with strong support from Alison Brown for any occasion.

After spending some time in Margaret river and Busselton, we can say that Commonage Pottery was our best customer experience in terms of wine tasting! This place is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is super nice (especially the lady in the tasting area)! It is a self served wine concept (40 wines) and surprisingly free… Highly recommend this beautiful place! Thanks a lot

I just love the atmosphere and energy and friendly staff at Commonage Pottery, there is always something on offer, from pottery classes (with Japneet & Gary), art classes (Gerald Ashcroft Palette Knife) to encaustic (wax art)classes (Colin Pratt). The beautiful pottery that Gary Produces is top quality, I have such a selection of his pieces from vases to crockery and lamps. I enjoy using Gary's beautiful casserole dishes too, they work a treat and so easy to clean.

I just had the most wonderful experience with Japneet of Commonage Pottery. I contacted her from Canada to help me choose a wedding gift for a friend in Australia. I can't rate my experience at Commange Pottery highly enough. The tuition is second to none, and the atmosphere welcoming, supportive, and encouraging to both novice and aspiring potter. If you have even the slightest creative streak and want a rewarding and fun experience then I recommend enrolling in any of the workshops you have an interest in.
